My connection seems slowThis can be due to phone line quality, a malfunctioning modem, and the amount of traffic on the Internet. As a precaution, check to see that the phone line you are using is in good quality(no tears, kinks, or broken wires). Check with your computer's support center for configuration and latest driver updates for your modem. The following procedures should help your connection speed. 1.From your desktop screen doulbe-click on the icon called My Computer. Double-click Dial-up Networking. Right click once on the CTC icon. Click Properties on the menu. On this window make sure there is no check on "Dial using country code and area code"(or area code and dialing properties). Click on Configure. On Maximum Speed select 57600. Click the connection tab. Click the Advanced button. Click the Sofware selection in the frame on the right. Click OK out of all these windows back to the one with the phone number. Now click on the Server Types or Networking tab. The only ones to be check on here are Enable Software Compression and TCP/IP. Click on the TCP/IP Settings button. Server-assigned IP address should be marked. Under Allowed Network Protocols select Specify Name Server Addresses. Enter the following numbers: See that the two boxes at the bottom are checked. Click OK on all windows. Close Dial-up Networking. Click Start, Shutdown/Turn-off, Restart. Once the computer reboots, see how the connection works. 2.Click Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double-click on Internet/Internet Options. Make sure you are on the General tab. Under the History section, click Clear History. Click Yes on the pop-up window. Under Temporary Internet Files click on Delete Files. Put a check on "Delete all offline content." Click OK. Click on Settings. Click View Files. Click Edit on the top menu on the window. Click Select All. This should highlight all the files in the window. Press your Delete key one time. Close the window. Click OK on the other windows and close the Control Panel. Click Start, Shutdown/Turn-off, Restart. Once the computer restarts, try the connection. |
