Connecting Windows to CTC

Windows 95

Click Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, Internet Connection Wizard. Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually." Click Next. Select "I connect using a phone line and modem." Click Next. Enter the local dial-up phone number:

Remove the check mark on "Dial using area code and country code."

Click the Advanced button in the lower right. Connection type is PPP. Logon Procedure is None. Click the tab labeled Addresses. IP Address is "Automatically assigned by ISP." DNS Server is "Always use the following." In the DNS Server blank enter 137.118.1.32 In the Alternate DNS Server blank enter 137.118.1.33 Click OK and then click Next. Type in your User Name and Password. Primary Login and Password from your application. Click Next. For the Connection Name, we recommend CTCWeb. Click Next. Domain name is ctcweb.net Proxy Server name is not needed.

If you want to set up your e-mail account choose Yes and click Next. You will now be asked for your Display Name. This is your real name, e.g., John Smith. You can also use your first name and last initial, a nickname, or username. Enter it and click next. Enter your e-mail address (e.g., username@ctcweb.net), and click Next. For "My incoming mail server is..." choose POP3. In the Incoming Mail Server blank, enter pop.ctcweb.net

In the Outgoing Mail Server blank, enter smtp.ctcweb.net

Click Next. Enter your account name (username) and password in the blanks, again these are the Primary Login and Password from your application. Check the box "Remember Password." DO NOT check the box that says SAP or Secure Password Authentication. Click Next. Finally, click Finish, and you're ready to hit the Net with Windows 95!

Windows 98 Second Edition

Click the "Connect to the Internet" icon on the desktop.

Or click on Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, Internet Connection Wizard. Choose "I want to set up my Internet Connection Manually..." and click Next. Enter the phone number you will need to dial with the modemand uncheck the box "Use area code and country code."

Windows 2000 & ME

Click on the Start button on the task bar. Go to Programs. Click Accessories. Go to Communications. Click Internet Connection Wizard. Select "I want to set up my connection manually." Click Next. Select "I connect through a phone line and modem." Click Next. Enter the dial-up phone number for your town:

Remove the check mark in the box "Dial using area code." Click Next. Enter your username and password. Click Next. Put CTC or CTCWeb for the name of the connection. Click Next. Select yes for setting up an Internet Mail Account. Click next. Enter a display name(this can be a first and last name, first name and last initial, or a nick name). Click next. Enter the email address. This will be your username@ctcweb.net. Click Next. Incoming Mail Server is POP3. Incoming Mail POP3 name is pop.ctcweb.net. The Outgoing Mail Server is smtp.ctcweb.net. Click next. Account name will be the username. Enter the same password here. Click Next. This should complete the set-up. Click Finish.

Windows XP

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Communications, New Connection Wizard(not to be confused with Network Connection Wizard). Click Next on the New Connection Wizard window. "Connect to the Internet" should already be selected. Click Next. Select "Set up my connection manually." Click Next. "Connect using a dial-up modem" should already be selected. Click Next. For ISP name, enter CTC or CTCWeb. Click Next. Enter the local dial-up phone number:

Click Next. Enter your username and password. Enter your password in the Confirm Password blank. All boxes here should be checked. Click Next. Click Finish.

To Set Up E-mail on XP

Click Start, E-mail Outlook Express. If the connection wizard opens, enter your Display Name.(If the wizard does not start upon opening Outlook Express go to procedure 2) The display name is the name by which recipients will know you. It can be your username, your full first and last name, or first name and last initial. Click next. Enter your e-mail address (example: username@ctcweb.net). Click Next. The first blank should say "My incoming mail server is a...POP3." Enter pop.ctcweb.net in the Incoming(POP3) blank. Enter smtp.ctcweb.net in the Outgoing(SMTP) blank. Click Next. The Account Name is the same as username. Enter your password. Click Next. Click Finish.

Procedure 2

On Outlook Express click Tools. Click Accounts. In the Accounts window click the Mail tab. Click the Add button. Select Mail. You are now in the set-up wizard. Follow through the remaining steps outlined above, starting with the display name.
